Sounds of Hope is in northern Virginia, 55 miles west of Washington, DC, 3 miles west of Marshall, on 12 acres we call Stillwaters. You are welcome to come to play and rest here, AND
Sounds of Hope COMES TO YOU: LIVE, in person, at your place of work, at your place of worship, and wherever you call home.

HOW do we make Sounds of Hope?

Mary Shapiro is a performer, songwriter and educator. The journey with her mother and father through dementia and depression inspired her to serve older adults and their families. Well-versed in the Music & Memory® program and certified in Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care®, Mary is a trained facilitator for the Stress-Busting Program for Family Caregivers™ through George Mason University. Mary provides therapeutic music for people with dementia at Poets Walk and individuals of all ages working with Hospice of the Piedmont. In 2024 she will complete her training with the Music for Healing and Transitions program as a Certified Music Practitioner.
Mary presents engaging and educational workshops on the power of music for professionals, caregivers, and families. She enjoys collaborating at community events, especially at the Senior Expos hosted by Aging Together.
Mary lives in gratitude with her husband Jeff and their dog, Rosie, near Marshall, Virginia.
